Not every skincare routine has to be complicated

The best simple skincare routine

Working from home and swapping social engagements for evenings in has resulted in more time spent purchasing and using skincare on the quest for the perfect skincare routine.

Facial cleansers and moisturisers are proving to be beauty winners according to the latest research from Mintel.

Following a dip in usage in 2018/19, facial cleansing is well and truly back in vogue with use rising from 50% in 2019 to 55% in 2020. It's not just cleansers which have increased in sales but face masks (not just the material type) with people indulging in longer more elaborate routines. Usage of wash-off masks has risen from 25% in 2019 to 32% in 2020

Excellent news for the industry, however, we need to make sure we don't over complicate things. Skincare routines can be simple and still offer outstanding results!

Here are four easy steps to beautiful skin...

1. Daily facial cleansing is an effective way of removing make-up, pollution and excess oil from the skin. A lot of people rush this part of their routine; however, if the skin is not completely clean, it can contribute towards breakouts, dehydration and even ageing. Cleanse the skin twice to ensure it is thoroughly clean.

The marocMaroc Cleanser & Gentle Make-up Remover is a tribute to the orange blossom of Mediterranean gardens. This delicate lotion gently removes make-up from the face and eyes! Massage into dry skin using your fingertips or cotton pads then remove with warm water.

2. Once a week exfoliate the skin. By taking away the top layer of dead, dull skin cells, the skin will be left brighter, smoother and able to best absorb the products that follow, meaning they can also work more effectively...win-win! As we age cell turn over slows down meaning skin is more prone to looking dull and lacklustre, exfoliating keeps the skin active and therefore looking younger too - think of it as the gym for your skin. Please don't overdo it though, once or twice a week is enough.

The Exfoliating Wax Cream by marocMaroc melts into the skin while argan, sugar and almond grains buff away dead skin cells revealing a perfectly luminous and hydrated skin.

3. Once a week after exfoliating, apply a face mask to help with your main skin concern. A skincare mask acts as an intense treatment working deep into the pores to rehydrate, decongest, purifying and brighten, with immediate results. With lockdown 2.0 looming again there really is no excuse not to mask not only will this be fantastic for your skin but also your wellbeing too!

Apply a thin layer of the Very Purifying Mask from marocMaroc to the face and neck. The Rhassoul clay draws out impurities leaving the complexion clear, balanced and radiant.

4. Complete the perfect four step skincare routine with a burst of hydration. No matter what your skin type, it is essential to apply a moisturiser both morning and evening. Some routines call for two different creams; however, the Nourishing Face Cream from marocMaroc is perfect for use twice a day. The Argan inside this product, AKA 'natures superfood for the skin' is not too heavy, or too light, making it ideal to use on all skin types. Packed with omega 6 and 9, vitamin E and squalene, all of which work to lightly moisturise the skin, soften dry patches, and even reduce acne. Honey and dates combine with the argan oil to create a super product for everyone.

Two products every day and two products once a week... simple!
